Priorities, Projects & Campaigns
The threats to our water, wildlife, lands, oceans, and neighborhoods are not separate issues. They run through the same budgets, the same agencies, and the same handful of congressional committees. Our Priorities, Projects & Campaigns Committee brings together workgroup co-leads and members from across the coalition to identify cross-cutting priorities, build shared campaign strategy, and turn an issue raised in one workgroup into the whole coalition’s fight.

Freshwater
Safe, abundant freshwater is a conservation issue, a health issue, and a justice issue. Every species depends on it. For people, it also means food, livelihoods, cultural connection, and the right to a safe supply close to home. Our Freshwater Workgroup brings together organizations and communities working to protect the rivers, wetlands, lakes, and aquifers that sustain us all.

Legacy Lands
Land loss is not history. It is happening now, and it has fallen hardest on people who have worked this land longest and held it with the least legal protection. Our Legacy Lands Workgroup pursues the resources and policy changes that make private land conservation equitable, with Black and Indigenous communities, Tribal nations, and other communities of color leading that work.

Our public lands hold the headwaters of our rivers, the fuller story of this country, and the homelands of people who have cared for them since long before they were called public. Our Public Lands Workgroup uses every protection tool available to defend lands of ecological and cultural significance, and to make sure that who gets to reach them is no longer decided by who has the means.

For most of us, nature starts a few blocks from home: the neighborhood park, the shade tree on the corner, the schoolyard at recess. Our Urban Parks & Green Space Workgroup works to close the gap between the communities that have these spaces and the communities that don’t, through policy, investment, and the people on the ground who know what safe, welcoming green space looks like.

Wildlife
Wildlife is woven into how our communities gather, play, eat, pray, and make a living. So wildlife conservation is never only about species counts. It is about who decides what happens to the animals, habitats, and ecosystems we live alongside, and who benefits from those decisions. Our Wildlife Workgroup brings together scientists, hunters, lawyers, advocates, Tribal and community leaders, and others redefining what wildlife stewardship looks like.
